Identity Theft Special Interest Group
Nov. 30, 2007

Attendees:
Bob Pinhiero
Kevin O’Neill
Britta Glade

Discussion:

Agenda was centered around how PPEG can work together with IDTheft SIG on whitepaper creation. Last meeting Robin explained that PPEG would be happy to sponsor and review any materials created for potential PPEG release. Interest in groups working together in this capacity. Unfortunately Robin unable to join call today. Group discussed there is interest in doing this but wanted further dialogue with PPEG about topics, lengths and next steps.

Given Identity Assurance Framework webcast this week, discussion next shifted to a discussion of the IAF. Can it be a helpful mechanism in thwarting identity theft? Discussion of the correspondence of trust levels in IAF to the NIST trust levels, and how those variations of trust can correspond to levels of assurance.

Document is open for public review until January timeframe, and a public SIG also exists to capture/encourage public feedback.

Discussion that financial services, government and healthcare all seem to have different “levels of trust” models. How to get these various industries to converge on a single model seems key to moving marketplace forward and thwarting theft. Discussed the various models in use, Canadian govt PKI initiative/certification program, etc.

Discussed moving call to another day/time (several usual members have conflicts with Friday time). Reviewed the member calendar to be sure we do not conflict with other calls. Arrived at Wednesdays at 9:30 PT. Bob to run that past international participants to see if this time and day is agreeable and publish new info to the list serve.
