Proposed Agenda:

1.Update discussion regarding HIMSS, GSA,EAP, Liberty, Internet 2, and Markle collaboration on Federated ID Management (HIMSS/GSA E-Authentication Phase 2).

John: RIOS has been working on reusability of authentication of SSO and accessing various providers within the community. It is extending beyond proving who you are, then other organizations such as LAP that have done a lot to support reusability of authentication are pulling together and trying to leverage the work. The purpose is to get the work done by the different groups in a RIOS type setting.

Dan Coombs is the contact for Markle. The University of Minnesota would be the project lead for funds that we may receive for the effort. We are looking at a couple of different grants to run through the ECPRM Research Group at University of Minnesota. Research on grants has been done and we have identified a couple of other grant writers at the University. The goal would be to fund additional development (using SAML and Shibboleth and open software) to develop an open federated environment linking them together through a federation.

We do want to invite additional individuals to the calls. We need a filter so the individuals joining the calls have a certain level of technical expertise/resources available.

BBN—a company with early ITF technical authors providing DNS caching has approached Pete to participate. Phase 1 included 7 projects in 6 different states. We have not yet invited those participants into the SIG.

2. World of Health IT Conference discussion of presentation contents and consideration of hosting a panel discussion event.

ACTION: Christina will research LAP membership and identify members who may want to attend the upcoming World of Health IT event. Specifically, there is a member of the eGov SIG currently working on an e-prescribing project.

Oct. 22-25. We could ask for travel expenses for speakers/education/fact finding, etc… Grant money may not arrive in time for this event. We will add travel, fact-finding, and education/evangelism to the grant proposal. We should also include an international perspective (Canada, Europe, etc…) as well as the following: US Dept. of Commerce and Special American Business Training.

Liberty has submitted an abstract for a presentation. Last year there was no face-to-face presentation/presenter. The panel discussion element was built around the ideas/concepts. We are hoping to do a similar thing for the Innsbruck meeting. We need to find travel funds. Liberty will host the event and cover those expenses but will not cover speaker expenses.

3. Nationwide Health Information Network Call for Prototype Proposals

Is Liberty going to be writing a grant proposal for the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN)? Would Liberty like to be part of the grant that John is writing? From an eHealth SIG perspective, yes.

ACTION: Christina will ask for a letter of support from the Management Board (Roger Sullivan or Brett) for inclusion in the upcoming NHIN grant.

4. Other new business and discussion.

Need to get the wiki up and running again…where did it go?

ACTION: Kurt will check with Joni re: the eHealth wiki. ONGOING
