Agenda:
1. Sponsorship form for the educational tracks at HIMSS (Britta Glade) (Chicago—McCormick Place)
--Booth Details—Are we interested in 10’x10’ booth space?
What about resources for staffing the booth? Eric has attended these before from a technical Liberty standpoint, but Liberty does not typically send staff to man booths. LAP membership would need to staff the booth. If we staff the booth for the whole show we are looking at a total of five days. The booth will be very casual in nature,
--Education sessions—LAP is the co-sponsor of the HIE Symposium (a day long symposium addressing governance, accountability, etc…). Helen mentioned previously that this session is going to be held on Saturday this year.
We can do a booth in the lobby and/or educational sessions. Britta is still checking to see if the booth is meant to stay up during the whole conference since the booth is located in the lobby and not on the show floor. We need to confirm our slots ASAP or the availability may go away.
Action 20081003-1: John F. and Rick M. will help with the HIE (Health Information Exchange) Symposium.
As Britta understands it we would be aligned specifically with the symposium. There is only one educational co-sponsor and that is Liberty. They select and proactively pursue the organization that they want to be the co-sponsor.
Action 20081003-2: John F. will speak with Pete Palmer re: representing the financial sector (speaking about the IAF and what that means for identity assurance).
Helen is on the planning committee for the RHIO symposium. There is a reception after each as well as lunch breaks.
--Budget needs: In the past we held a breakfast for specifically selected/recruited individuals in order to promote Liberty-specific content. SIG members gave presentations. We could hand out invitations to the breakfast at the booth, which should be in HIMMS ‘central’ (near bookshop, etc…). We should have literature to hand out at the symposium.
Action 20081003-3: Britta will send a description of symposiums to Kurt to include in the minutes: CLOSED—see below:
HIE Symposium:
There are more Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) and Regional Health Information Organizations (RHIOs) throughout the country than ever before; but, where are we as an industry with implementation? The HIE symposium will feature views from the federal and state perspectives on the intricate relationship between national and state-level programs and their reciprocal impact on one another. This day-long symposium will closely examine components critical for long term success of HIEs and RHIOs including governance, accountability, policy and technical models for adoption, as well as financial challenges and successes ultimately exploring the progress of HIE and RHIO implementation to date.
Financial Systems Symposium
Show me the Money! The healthcare industry is undergoing major changes with the selection and reimbursement of patient care directly impacting providers and their financial management of the organization.
Drivers of this change include the movement toward electronic payments, the push for real time processing, process changes from patient scheduling to final payment tracking, increasing consumer driven involvement and emerging new players in the financial arena. These drivers are pushing the limits of the current environment infrastructure, moving both information technology and processes closer to what many label as retail healthcare. Join us for this half day symposium which will explore these important issues with industry experts.
Action 20081003-4: Once the agenda and speakers are confirmed Helen will send the details to the mail list.
Action 20081003-5: Helen will speak with Pam re: the financial services speakers, keeping in mind that Pete Palmer may be interested in speaking.
2. Response to question on IHE (technical demo)
OASIS interoperability event: Eric responded to a recent request by IHE re: Liberty and its members past participation. Are there members in this SIG that would be interested in participating?
Prior to participation you have to pass the January Connectathon. Once you pass that you can show at the HIMMS IHE Interoperability Showcase. You have to do it on a company basis (uncertain as to whether or not Liberty could participate or if it would need to be Liberty members specifically). It is a great deal of work and costs approximately $8,000 to do the testing and $8,000 to be at the show. It would cost a minimum of $20,000 to participate. In previous HIMMS shows there were different levels on which to participate. We may have up to a week in which to make the decision to participate. Are other member companies going through the IHE interop process? One of the HIMMS board members is from Mitre—they may have interest in participating.
Eric: The reason the information was forwarded to OASIS is that there may be a way to collaborate with them on this.
John: Without a strong IHE vendor it would not make sense to get involved at this late date. It does not look like something we could do this year. It might help if Liberty could offer support to add federation to a profile development track of interested organizations. Federated technology is starting to come into view for some working groups. There will be a push by the VA for example and OASIS is also doing some things.
Mari Frank will be working with Britta re: details of the breakfast/reception event. Britta should speak with Mari about available space since HIMMS books all available rooms in the vicinity prior to the event. We need to deal with scheduling re: getting materials to the booth, breakfast reception, etc… We will talk more about this on our next call in two weeks.
3. AOB
None.
