Agenda:

Discuss the following opportunity: Quickly summarized, we're invited to co-sponsor one or two of the below symposium track at HIMSS

Britta spoke with HIMSS. EAP has nine (9) tracks at the upcoming HIMSS conference. We have been invited to be an educational co-sponsor. Wrapping meetings around other major events is a great opportunity; it gives the group visibility as a co-sponsor. The HIE symposium has traditionally been on Sunday and attendees used to have to pay extra for it. This year it will be on Saturday with an awards banquet Saturday night and the conference itself will begin on Sunday. EAP was to be a sponsor of the event and when EAP was merged into LAP it left an opportunity available. Two years ago for the HIMMS GSA pilot we had a large room that was pretty packed for both sessions.

If we have a SIG, EG, etc…that wants to sponsor a breakfast or reception of some kind we could arrange to do that. IHE typically holds a reception after the RHIO symposium, but it is uncertain whether or not they are doing that this year.

If we can get Liberty representation we could get a significant amount of traffic.

Assurance framework, governance framework, web services—what do we want on printouts 1.0 of framework?

ACTION: Pete will find out the status of the Liberty Identity Assurance Assessors program.

NHIN plans to standardize on Liberty rather than a mix of other technologies. Helen would be happy to assist.

HITSP Security & Privacy Infrastructure TC—foundation group is working to bring some of these issues forward. There are currently no use cases coming out of it.

It would be nice to have an accredited IDP for level 3. We should work on getting that accomplished before HIMMS. One of the things we were looking at doing was drafting a letter with Liberty signatures for AHIC, although the Liberty IAEG may have already done that.

ACTION: Pete will follow up with IAEG to see if they have already sent a letter to AHIC

ACTION: Britta will speak with Mari Franks re: logistics related to HIMMS.

We need to have discussions re: assurance and governance frameworks at the SBITC level and higher. We need to fill in the knowledge gaps; what it is, what it can do , how would it be utilized in the framework, etc…

Re: Mark Cordera—we have not had further follow up. That was more about IAF vs. levels of assurance. Members of IAEG would be most knowledgeable—they could help us with a proposal to HAI. There is an IAEG meeting Wednesday, Oct. 1. They produced the 1.0 document of the framework that is currently available and includes all the EAP board members that came over to Liberty.

ACTION: Pete will get in touch with Jim Gross, Rick and Helen to discuss a proposal to IAEG.

ACTION: Helen will communicate an agreed upon HIM SIG proposal to IAEG.

On the OASIS XSPATC call last week they discussed that they are putting something together for the HIMMS conference in the spring (VA, GE Healthcare). Its goal is to move IHE work into OASIS and get it ratified as a whole package.

PII group at HIMMS: At the next meeting there will be a presentation by Barry Heath.

Financial Systems Symposium: Co-sponsorship would give us trade show floor space and we would have the ability to have a room for a SIG meeting or educational session.

ACTION: Britta will confirm whether or not meeting room use under a Financial Systems Symposium co-sponsorship would be for a single meeting or a full day.

HIE Symposium

There are more Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) and Regional Health Information Organizations (RHIOs) throughout the country than ever before; but, where are we as an industry with implementation? The HIE symposium will feature views from the federal and state perspectives on the intricate relationship between national and state-level programs and their reciprocal impact on one another. This day-long symposium will closely examine components critical for long term success of HIEs and RHIOs including governance, accountability, policy and technical models for adoption, as well as financial challenges and successes ultimately exploring the progress of HIE and RHIO implementation to date.

Financial Systems Symposium

The healthcare industry is undergoing major changes with the selection and reimbursement of patient care directly impacting providers and their financial management of the organization. Drivers of these changes include the movement toward electronic payments, the push for real time processing, process changes from patient scheduling to final payment tracking, increasing consumer driven involvement and emerging new players in the financial arena. These drivers are pushing the limits of the current environment infrastructure, moving both information technology and processes closer to what many label as retail healthcare. Join us for this half day symposium which will explore these important issues with industry experts.

As a co-sponsor, we would be entitled (among other things) to a free 10x10 booth (we'd need to discuss how/if we would use that) and meeting space (it might be beneficial to have a SIG meeting and/or offer a conference session for the public).
